Thank You!

I just wanted to say thank you for all the prayers. Daddy did great! However, today has been pretty rough. He is in a lot of pain, and just does not feel good. He is still in ICU, so we only get to see him every couple of hours. I have had some trouble with the way my daddy looks. The first time I saw him, I had to leave the room because I thought I was going to pass out. Honestly, I barely made it out the room. I had to get a nurse to get me a chair so I could sit with my head between my legs. I felt so yucky! Daddy had no idea, he thought I was on the phone. I had to pull myself together and go tell him goodnight. Today has been better, but the nurse got me a stool to sit in the doorway. I finally told him, I do not do well with blood. I never knew I would react this way. It is just so hard to see your daddy that way.

I just got home so I could go Trick-or-Treating with the boys tonight. I have not seen them since Wednesday. David and I are heading back tomorrow just for the day. Then, I hope we can take the boys to see their Papa Sunday after church, but it all depends on how daddy feels (and looks). By the way, my church, First Baptist, has Gene Stallings coming to speak at Calhoun College at 9:00 this Sunday. You are invited. It will be awesome!!!!

I hope everyone has a fabulous Halloween! Please be safe and careful! I cannot wait to see the children on Monday. I miss them! Again, thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. I have the greatest class and parents. I love you all!

I Love My Daddy!

Last night we all spent the night at The Lodge at St. Vincent's Hospital with my dad. We had a wonderful evening all crammed (remember all adults) into a room about the size of my bathroom at home. We laughed and giggled until our stomach's ached. Daddy's spirits were good!
This picture was taken last night. Everything this morning moved fast. There was no down time before they rolled him off. It was hard giving daddy hugs and kisses because he was very emotional. We are just waiting and enjoying spending quality time with each other. Please continue to pray.

Thank you, Mr. Wheeler!

Hannah's sweet daddy came to school on Wednesday to carve a pumpkin with the boys and girls. There favorite part was the pumpkin guts! YUCK!
Everyone had a chance to help cut out our pumpkin's face.

Here Will is working on getting the lid off.

Hannah and the finished product!

Thanks so much for doing this with the class, Mr. Wheeler. You are the best!

He chose the perfect pumpkin for us!

Mock Elections at JHES

We tried to take a class picture in front of the booths, but the sun was too bright.
Here they are making sure they are registered voters. This is Brandon with the "I VOTED" stickers they received after voting.

Paige is placing her ballot in the box.

Preston let me pick in his polling booth.

I can't remember who this is? Anyway, it is a cute picture.

They did not announce the winner today!?! Hopefully, we will find out on the morning announcements! The children are anxious for the results!!!!
It was a great experience for my class. They did a great job!

Our last story in this unit...

READ! READ! READ!

Play Practice

The children are practicing our songs for the play. I sent home a copy of the songs today for you to help your child memorize.
If your child has a speaking part, PLEASE make sure he/she knows it by FRIDAY! Thanks for your help on this.

Mrs. Edney is doing a great job organizing this play. We thank her for all she does.

The play is next Thursday. We hope you can make one or both of the performances. Bring your tissues!

Sorry, no pictures....

David took my camera to work today for Patton's reflection project. Yes, it is due tomorrow. Nothing like waiting to the last minute.

IMPORTANT STUFF:
This week we will focus on the PLAY! We are doing a play in honor of VETERAN'S DAY! If anyone wants to help Kim Parker with the backdrop, please let me know. By the way, did you see that Kim Parker made the paper on Sunday! She is a famous homeroom mom!

If your child has a speaking part, please be practicing it. He/She needs to know it by Friday.

Does anyone have a member of their family that has served in the Armed Forces with a uniform? We are looking for several people to present the colors during our program on November 6. We will need them to be available for both performances: one in the morning and one in the evening for PTA.

Also, heads up on what the children are to wear. We are asking everyone to wear a red shirt with blue jeans. Let me know if this is going to be a problem for you.

ONE MORE THING:
Please send in field trip money for the two plays ($12.00). It is due by Wednesday!

UPCOMING EVENT:
I will take pictures of your child participating in our mock election tomorrow at school. I will have my camera in hand!

This weekend

David and I stopped by the school's fall festival today. I went to check on my class's booth, and this what I found......
Kim Parker covered in cotton candy!
While fall festival was going, David worked on the potties down the kindergarten/1st grade hall. He took off the old seats and replaced them with new ones that have lids. When our school has to take shelter for a tornado warning, these poor children have to go in their bathroom. Yes, all 18 of them. They are packed in there. Anyway, the old potties had no lids. Now, the teacher can close the lid and not have to worry about a foot, hand, or even a head touching the potty water.

Here is Kim still working on that "yummy" cotton candy. Her poor hair!
She is such a trooper! Thank you so much.
LOOK what I did FRIDAY night!
David and I took Smith to see High School Musical 3 in Huntsville. Patton had a birthday party so he has a date with my mom to go see it soon.
We LOVED it!

Workshop

While I met with my reading group, the children work independently in workshop. This group is working on social studies. They are researching the three branches of government. This group is working on this week's spelling words. They are to write each spelling word in a sentence. This is a little tricky this week because we are dealing with homophones. For example: waist/waste.
This is the comprehension station. They are reading chapters 5 and 6 in The Candy Corn Contest.
Also this week, the children will visit the math station to play with geo boards or play games (UNO, Connect Four, Dominoes, etc.)

This Week

This is a wonderful story. Read it with your child this week. I promise you will enjoy it! Our reading/vocabulary test will be this Friday. Study! Study! Study!

This week's spelling test and grammar test will focus on homophones. Don't forget that there will be a DOL quiz this Friday as well.
I will not send home a lot of homework because the boys and girls need to review Chapter 2 in math for their test on Friday. I will send home a study guide on Tuesday. If your child completes this and returns it on Friday, I will add 5 points to his/her test grade. This study guide is exactly what the test will look like, but with different numbers plugged in.

T-Shirts are HERE!

The t-shirts are here! They were delivered just in time. I love them, but the 3 on the back was suppose to be in a funky print. Oh well, they still look great! Make sure your child wears this shirt to school on Wednesday for our field trip to Rickwood Caverns.
I feel a little important with my name on a T-Shirt! I did not know it was going to have my name on it! WOW!

Home Sweet Home!

It was hard to say Good-Bye to such a magical place! The boys right before we headed to the airport in Orlando.
This is them loading the plane to head home. They were sad that we were leaving.
Pop, David's dad, picked us up at the Airport in Huntsville. Patton was excited to show off his pins from the trip.
The boys are headed to the car--next stop is College Street.

More Disney Pictures

Our Favorite Rides at Disney
This was one of Patton's favorite ride. We had to ride it twice.

We all loved this ride at EPCOT. We also rode this one twice.
This is my favorite ride! David laughs at me because I could ride this one over and over and over. It is so precious!
I could not quit singing the song in my head.
Patton finally admitted that he liked this ride, too!
This was another favorite for all of us! This is a "must ride" if you go to Disney.
This is new show at Disney and it is absolutely hilarious! We laughed and laughed and laughed!
Smith's favorite ride was Space Mountain, and Patton loved the Rockin' Roller Coaster because it went upside down. David loved it all, but he especially liked all the 3-D Shows. As for me, I loved the parades and the whole atmosphere.

A Few More Random Pictures
Look closely and you will see Patton, Smith, and David in the front on Splash Mountain.
They loved it! However, they were hoping to get soaked! Well, Smith and Patton were hoping to get soaked! Tiger and Pooh with the boys.
Jiminee Cricket from Pinochio.
Captain Hook
