A Blessing

I wanted to share with you the privilege I have on Sunday mornings at my church, Special Needs Sunday School! Here are 3 of my sweet friends: Jason, Marshal, and Shawn.
Callie and Patton love my class so they decided to come help my mom and I out today.
This is precious William getting ready to watch some Action Bible Songs.

Shawn cutting out his pumpkin.
We did "The Pumpkin Carving Prayer" today, and this is our finished product! They were so proud!

Cutting the top off (Open my mind so I can learn about You)

Marshal and I with the guts!
Cleaning out the inside (Take away all my sins and forgive me for the wrong things I do).
Cutting the eyes (Open my eyes so Your love I will see).
Cutting a nose (I'm sorry for turning up my nose to all you've given me).
Cutting a mouth (Open my mouth so I can tell others about You).
Singing "This Little Light of Mine" (Let Your light shine in all I say and do!)

Working with this special group on Sundays has changed me greatly! They have taught me so much about LIFE!!!

What a TREAT!

Ethan's sweet grandmother came to our classroom on Wednesday dressed as witch! She shared several Halloween stories with the class!
Ethan was so proud! What special times!!!

Getting Ready For Next Week!

The third grade teachers spent a lot of time this week preparing for our chemical testing unit in science. The whole third grade, will meet in the cafeteria next week to work through this unit!
Throughout the week, the boys and girls will perform several tests to help them identify 5 unknown powders.

We look forward to creating little chemists!

Early Release on Tuesday!

Wow! Tuesday was total chaos! First, we went to the Princess Theater to see Zorro! By the way, it was a great! We all really enjoyed it. But, when we returned to JHES around 11:00, we were greeted by Mr. Kimbrell with instructions to get ready for lunch! Yes, DECATUR CITY SCHOOLS were being released at 12:30! This was the scene in my room! We came right in and packed our bags to go home before we headed down for a 15 minute lunch!!!
Then, this was the scene in the gym at 12:15!
My class was not scared of the weather! They were excited about getting to go home early!!!

Science

We have spent this week building some background knowledge for our Chemical Unit test next week!

Lots of fun coming next week!! My class will become little chemist!

Break!

A Crazy Week!We have been fortunate that we have not had to miss any outside breaks due to bad weather this year. Well, this week we had to spend several days inside for break because of the wet weather!
They had a wonderful time playing games!
Now, they are begging me to have indoor break everyday, rain or shine!

Cursive!

By the end of next week, we will have learned all the lowercase letters in cursive! Wahoo!!!! They absolutely love writing in cursive.
Practice! Practice! Practice! The students will start receiving a handwriting grade on their report card after Christmas!

This Week's Story

This is our last selection in our "Animals and their Habitats" unit. We will spend next week celebrating that we completed all 5 stories. Yes, that means no reading/vocabulary test and no spelling test next week!! This selection is full of information, a narrative non-fiction!
Through many activities, the students studied about different animals and their habitats.
They showed a great interest in this unit!
Don't forget tomorrow's reading/vocabulary test!
This selection has lot of facts!!!!

Please Pray

Mrs. Sike's, one of our 3rd grade teachers, church caught on fire this afternoon in Hartselle. Her husband is the minister at this church. They said the church was a total loss. Please pray for them and their church family. Their congregation only consists of about 22 members. The story has been featured on WAFF48 News.
