Human Body Unit

Last week, we began our final unit in Science, Human Body! I introduced the unit with the children watching each other jump rope.
As they were jumping, the children recorded what body parts moved.

As a class, we defined the following vocabulary words. We will keep an ongoing word bank throughout this unit.

Then, as a class, we worked hard on trying to figure out how many bones are in our bodies.

They worked really hard to count the bones in each section of the body.

We finally came to conclusion (with a lot of debating) that our bodies have 206 bones.

Next, the children tried to put Mr. Bones together without any guidance from me.

I was quite impress on how well they actually did on this.

Here is Mr. Bones! There were only a few minor mistakes.

Yes, quite disgusting I might say, but the children loved it!

I love this picture of Jamey! She wasn't quite sure about this Owl Pellet thing.

One group found a rodent's skull.

Here is one groups fur and bones.

Molly is not too sure about this whole experiment. However, it did not take her long to finally dig in!

Easter with Poon and Pop (The Coon Side)

After we celebrated Easter with my family, we headed over to David's parents house for dessert and more egg hunting. Patton with his basket from Poon and Pop.
Smith with his big basket.

When they emptied their eggs from the egg hunt, this is what they found!

Patton held up an L for "Loser" because Smith found more eggs than him.

It was a fun afternoon for all!

Easter With Nana and Papa

After church on Easter Sunday, we ate lunch at my mom and dad's and then headed to my sister's for our annual Easter Egg Hunt. Patton opening his basket from Nana and Papa.
Smitty with his basket full goodies from Nana and Papa.

Smith found the golden egg, the silver egg, and the most eggs in the egg hunt.

Sam counting to see how many eggs he found in all.

Patton was pretty bummed because he found the least eggs. He spent most of his time looking for the PRIZE eggs.
Smitty counting his eggs. He found 73 eggs!
Papa had to help Penny count her eggs. She found 52!

Sam and Smith looking hard for the silver egg.

Patton and Smith digging in the mulch.

David taking it all in. He knew exactly where all the eggs were! He would throw out a hint every once in awhile.

Go Smitty!

Patton was on a mission!
Nana and Papa with all the kids before the egg hunt began!!

Dying Easter Eggs

Since we had to go to school on Good Friday, we decided to celebrate Easter with a special snack and Easter egg dying.
