Living Waters 5K

This weekend, my brother talked me into running a 5k with him. I told myself I would never do another 5K because they make me so nervous. Everyone runs so fast and it makes me a nervous wreck. I like long and steady races. Anyway, I did run it and had a good time.

My brother placed 3rd in his age group. This is a picture of him in is Alabama jersey and his son, Sam. Yes, he ran in the jersey! ROLL TIDE!!!!
My niece, Penny, helped me get my medal. I got 2nd place in my age group. Isn't she precious!! Here is Penny cheering her daddy on during the race. She is a good cheerleader!
My brother also got a medal. He placed third in his age group. Way to go, Bro!
Mr. David also placed. He got 3rd place in his age group.
Here is Mrs. Coon coming throught the finish line. My time was 25:59.
Here is my brother waving to his kids during the race. I wish I had the energy to wave during the race!
Mr. David finished the race around 21 minutes. Wow-he is a lot faster than me!
Here's Mrs. Coon trying to keep up with all those fast people.
Here we are waiting to start the race!

BLACK FRIDAY

This morning Mrs. Coon picked up her mother at 4:30 A.M. and we headed to Huntsville shopping! It was awesome. I found so many wonderful deals. I just wanted the class to know that I had so much fun spending my DICK'S gift card. DICK's opened at 5:00 A.M. and there were some awesome sales. I walked out with a bag full! Thanks again for the generous gift!

Decorating the Tree

It is tradition for my family to decorate our Christmas tree on Thanksgiving. So, Mr. David pulled everything out of the attic and we worked and worked and worked.

Finally, the tree is up! Throughout the weekend, I will work on getting the rest of our Christmas decorations out!

Mrs. Coon's Thanksgiving

Mr. David and my brother spent all morning frying our turkey for the big feast. It was delicious! Patton insisted on having a leg from the turkey. He ate and ate and ate on that leg!
Here is a picture of all the yummy food: ham, turkey, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, corn casserole, dressing, mac & cheese, potatoes with cheese and mushrooms, rolls, and much more.

This is Smitty and my nephew, Patrick, enjoying their Thanksgiving meal.

And of course, we had to take pictures of all Nana and Papa's grandchildren. They have 7 in all!

We had a wonderful day! We are so blessed.

The DAM BRIDGE run!

This weekend, I went to Florence to run across the Dam Bridge. It was a beautiful race, but extremely cold. It was only 18 degrees at the start line. Brrrrr....... Here I am crossing the finish line!
This is David running across the finish line. Of course, he finished way ahead of me. Oh WELL!
Way to go, Shelley! She was just a couple of steps behind me!

Then, here comes my big brother. He was just a couple of steps behind Shelley. The three of us pretty much stuck together during the six miles.

I got third place in my age group. The boys were so excited to see me with a trophy.
This is a picture of two of my nieces, Jordan and Penny. They both belong to my brother.

They came to cheer for their daddy's first race! I do not know where his other child is, but his little boy, Sam, was there too.
This was my brother's first race. He did fabulous. He finished in exacty 56 minutes.

Shelley and I ran the whole thing together. She always makes a race fun!

This is my brother, Shawn, and I getting ready to head to the start line!

Happy Birthday to ME!

Friday was a very special day for me! You stinkers turned our Thanksgiving party into a birthday party for me! It was so sweet, and I greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Austin for these wonderful items. I have already worn the socks and have used the dish towel.
The whole class gave me a BIG gift card to Dick's Sporting Goods. This is one of my favorite places to buy running clothes. The amount was WAY TOO generous! Thank you so much!

Precious Paige gave me a gift card to my favorite place in Decatur, Panera Bread. I go there so much, the people that work there know me by name. It embarasses Mr. David when he goes with me.

I was also given this cute cookie to share with the class! It tasted as good as it looked! YUMMY!

Preston had these beautiful, fall flowers delivered to me at school on Friday. I was so excited! This is the first time I have gotten flowers delivered to me at school. What a treat!!!! They look so beautiful sitting on the table in my den.

Mr. K is looking for....

a video of our third grade play.
He would love to get a copy of it.

Heads UP!

We will have a math test on Friday, December 5. It will be on adding and subtracting larger numbers. It will consist of about 25 addition and subtraction problems.

Also, don't forget the class spelling bee is on Tuesday, December 2.

Christmas Decorations

Volunteers Needed
I am looking for volunteers to come into the classroom to make Christmas Ornaments with the children. I would like to do it the next 2 Fridays during the store (1:30-2:30). This volunteer would need to come up with an idea, provide the materials, and instruct the children. The children love having their parents here, and even more when their parents are in charge! It is always a treat!
Please email me or send in a note if you are interested in tackling this project. Thanks!
*2 parents might want to pair up and work together!

Staying busy....

The boys and girls planted their seeds this week in Mrs. Maze's class during science. The girls were so excited about their seeds. I caught them on their way to put them under the light.
During language this week, we have been working on dictionary skills: entry words, guide words, parts of speech, and pronunciation.

These are pictures are of Mrs. Maze's class working in groups with their dictionaries during language in my room.

Bring in those CANS!

Who would not want to see Mr. K dressed up like Hannah Montana! We have to reach our goal of 2800 cans!!!!! Starting today, each child will receive one credit for each can he/she brings in this week!
I sure would like our class to win!

Look what we did today?

Today in Science, the students observed a bean that has been soaking for several days. They recorded their observations.
The children labeled the parts of the bean in their science notebooks.
The boys and girls were really in to this project!

Today, the children shared items they brought from home about money.

We added their findings to our concept/question board.

I Have A Class of "Little" Teachers!

Here is Brandon with some coins he brought from home to share with the class during our unit on money. Here Preston is reading aloud to the class.

This is Hannah reading one of her favorites to the class.

Preston and Austin are stapling Thanksgiving activity pages together into packets for workshop.

I appreciate all their help!

Two Books We Will Read This Week:

This is a fun story to read while studying subtraction. The children will use dry erase boards to work the problems as I read the story aloud to them. We will also be studying about the first Thanksgiving this week during workshop time.
