Easter Lunch with Poon and Pop

Our family and my sister's family ate a wonderful Easter lunch prepared by my mother-in-law after church.
We usually eat at my mom and dad's house on Easter for lunch, have a huge Easter egg hunt there, go eat dinner at the Coon's, and then have another Easter egg hunt; but this year was different because half of our family was in Houston, Texas at MD Anderson on Easter.

We still had a relaxing afternoon and enjoyed spending lots of time outside. It was beautiful afternoon! Callie and Patton enjoyed Pop's zipline!

Smith and Turner kept the roads hot with their scooters!

And....Stephen and Pop just chilled out!

We decided not to have an Easter egg hunt this year since it wouldn't be the same without Nana and Papa (Well, it wouldn't be the same without the money they put in the eggs! Ha!)

Easter Morning at the Coon House

Our first Easter without Nana and Papa! It still was a beautiful day because HE LIVES!!

Easter Fun

The boys and girls had a blast dying eggs last Friday. We decided since we had to be in school on Friday, we should celebrate! Mrs. Brain, Mrs. Taylor, and Mrs. Laney came and helped us! We appreciated their help!

Each child got to do 12 eggs! They turned out beautiful!

Seed Projects

All I can say is WOW!!!! I am totally overwhelmed with excitement! I appreciate the creativity they put into these! Here are a few of them....

Great JOB, Coondogs!!!

Look What We Have!

Our Brassica Seeds have become plants! Last Wednesday, the students planted fertilizer and seeds into soil. When they came into school on Monday, they found these!!!
They worked in pairs to get their planters ready to put under our light.

Honestly, this project has never gone this smoothly. They were so indepedent and worked so well together. I put a powerpoint on the board and they followed it step by step!

I was so proud of how well they tackled this experiment!

This is how they looked last Wednesday! I can't wait to see them by Friday!!

Last Week

Last week, we had some busy afternoons with two entertaining visitors. We had a blast listening to the Cedar Ridge Jazz Band!
We clapped and danced as they entertained us! It was fun!!!

Two of our own had the opportunity to help the magician that came to JHES! He was awesome, and quite AMAZING!!! Here Jarius giving him a helping hand.

Daveon also got to get on stage! It was hilarious!!!

Delano Mile Run

Leon Sheffield and Ben Davis give David and I the honor to organize and run the mile for their physical fitness test. David and I work with other River City Runners to provide the children the true racing experiencing to make this long mile more fun! The boys and girls wear chips on their shoes so when they cross these mats at the finish line, their times are automatically entered into the computer!
It is a big deal! Parents, grandparents, friends, etc come and cheer!!

This year the students even got dri-tech shirts to run in.

Patton with his buddy, Britt.

Smitty feeling a little nervous at the start line. Each grade level ran together, so the other grade levels got to cheer for them.

Patton and Callie getting their game plan together at the start line.

Smitty and Reed Harbin in action.

Patton did an awesome job!

He finished!!! He was hot and tired!

There is Ella Sanders and Callie making the curve!

Run, Smith, Run!!!

Look at those times!

Here comes Smitty in the back!

Turner Stepp won the 3rd grade Race!! Time of 7:03! Wow!

It was a fun day for all! Running a mile isn't that bad when you have all this!!!

Prayers Needed

My mom, dad, and sister flew out to Houston, Texas Sunday evening. As most of you know, my dad has been fighting head/neck cancer since 2008. After his case was accepted at MD Anderson, we decided that the right thing to do was to pack him up and send him off for a second opinion. He has spent the past two days meeting with different doctors. These doctors have spent a lot of time running tests and evaluations on daddy. My sister said these doctors are amazing, and their expertise is unbelievable! I am asking you to please pray that these doctors will come up with a plan that will help HEAL my daddy.
