I had to share!

Both of my boys were REQUIRED to participate in this year's Reflection Project, "BeautyIs..." They both knew exactly what they wanted to do...
PHOTOGRAPHY!
Both of these pictures are of our Boston Terrier, LULU! Patton thinks she is absolutely beautiful. These are the pictures he used, but we had them developed in black and white.

Smith used this picture of a stain glass window from our church. He decided during service on Sunday that this window was beautiful, so we headed home and grabbed the camera!
I think he is right, IT IS BEAUTIFUL!

Chemical Testing Unit

We started our next Science Unit on Chemical Testing. We began our unit by making a list of things we thought we knew about chemicals. Then, we made a list of things we want to learn about chemicals over the next couple of weeks.
Today, the children were presented with 5 unknown powders. First, they identified each powder's physical properties by using their senses.

Then, they observed each powder's chemical change when we added 6 drops of water to it.
Next, made mixtures by adding our powders to 10 ML of water.
The boys and girls had to determine whether the chemical reaction was a suspension or a solution.
Lastly, they poured their mixtures through a filter into a dish to see what will happen when it sits over the next couple of days in the window (filtration).
They were responsible for taking lots fo notes today! Hopefully by Friday, the boys and girls will be able to use their notes and identify these 5 unknown powders.
Tomorrow we will perform the Iodine, Red Cabbage, and Vinegar tests.

This is what happens when your child continues to take from MR. FRANK.....

Patton enjoyed his lessons in third grade so much, he wanted to continue to take violin lessons. Well, after going to his first lesson at Cedar Ridge, he came home with this instead of a violin! He was tickled to death that Mr. Frank gave them different string instruments to choose from to play. He told us he chose this because he got to sit down while he played. Hee-Hee!
This baby is huge!

What a RECITAL!!

This guy is awesome! We are so thankful for Mr. Frank. He does such a wonderful job with our children. I hope you enjoyed yesterday as much as I did! Thanks for coming and supporting your child!!!

They made me PROUD!!

I was looking for you at the RED RIBBON MARCH!

David and I ran 20 miles this morning and then quickly grabbed the boys and headed downtown. It was a lot of fun! There were LOTS of people there!
Patton and Smith found this donkey there! He was pretty cute!

Movie Night Basket

Thank you for sending in items (or money) for our basket for the Silent Auction. Cole's sweet mom was so kind to collect the stuff and put it all together in this precious basket! Surely, we will make some BIG bucks!!!

Friday's Pep Rally!!!

To wrap up RED RIBBON WEEK at JHES, we put a twist on things and had an Orange Day. To help us get fired up for Saturday's March, Austin High School came and pumped us up! It was so much fun (and extremely loud)! Here are some great pictures!

Thanks to AHS and Somer Praytor for making this event happen!!!!
