Space and Rocket Center

I think the teachers had more fun than the students! Mr. Thomas and I decided to try the rock climbing wall! The COMPETITION was on!!
We both were a little nervous, but ready to get started!
It really looks a lot easier than it is! You use a lot of upper arm strength!

I was determine to beat Mr. Thomas!

....and I DID!!!

We had a wonderful time waking around. The weather was perfect!
The other two third grade teachers, Mrs. Sikes and Miss Hardison, were crazier than Mr. T and I.
There is Mrs. Sikes on this crazy ride! There is NO WAY!

Mrs. Sikes screamed so loud! It was quite embarrassing! Ha!

Miss Hardison looks like she is having second thoughts, but she went through with it!

The museum was awesome, too! The children really learned a lot!

It was a great trip! Thank you parents for all your help!

Astronaut Pudding

Last Thursday, Cole's mom came and made astronaut pudding with the boys and girls since we were heading to the Space and Rocket Center in the morning. They had to mash their bags of pudding mix and milk with their fingers until it got to the right consistency.
They worked hard to smash it all together in their baggies.

This is what the final product looked like!

The best part was eating it!
I think it is obvious that is was good by Orrin's face!

They had a great time!

Mini Unit: Landforms

The boys and girls did an indepedent study on landforms. They each had 16 landforms to research. They used books and the internet to come up with definitions, pictures, and examples.
Each child was responsible for prioritizing his/her time to complete his/her book by last Friday.
Today, the children took an open notebook test on Landforms!

Math: Multiplication and Geometry

Last week in math, we practiced our multiplication with a few math stations. These guys were playing math drills on the computer.
These guys were racing on a test to see who could finish 100 problems 1st!

These kiddos were playing a silly card game with their multiplication facts!

In Geometry, we learned about polygons with The Greedy Triangle.

As I read the book, the children used toothpicks (sides) and marshmallows (angles) to make the shapes I was reading about.

Here is a picture of Justin's HEPTAGON!

Baylee was proud of her DECAGON!

More Race Day Photos

Mercedes 1/2 Marathon

This weekend, David and I went to Birmingham to run the Mercedes 1/2 Marathon. Dave and I at Mellow Mushroom. We were "carbing up" for the big race!
My sister-in-law, Cheryl, and my brother, Shawn, rode down and stayed with us!

We met my girlfriends for dinner: Betsy, Tracy, Jennifer, and Megan.

My brother and I were up at 4:15 AM ready to get this show on the road. We both wore "LIVESTRONG" clothing in honor of my daddy!

Our good friends Brad and Barbara drove down that morning and met us in the lobby of our hotel.
David, Patrick, and Brad getting ready to head to the start line!

Here we are! We are bundled up and ready to go!

It is fun getting to run with family!

There is Shawn and Brad around mile 1.

Megan and I coming around to the finish!

Finally, there is the FINISH LINE!
Megan and I finished in 1 hour and 52 minutes! My fastest 1/2 marathon.
David finishing in 1 hour and 32 minutes!!

We all did it! It was a fun race!

Here are the fast boys!!!

Our Valentine's Party

We spent Friday afternoon celebrating Valentine's Day with ice cream sundaes. After we ate our ice cream, the boys and girls exchanged Valentines with each other.
