The Start Line is Finally in Sight!

Please pray for Mr. David and I as we head to Nashville on Friday for the Country Music Marathon. The marathon starts at 7 AM on Saturday morning!

Measurement Activity

On Monday, we used string and a ruler to measure the hat size of our friends (the distance around the head, just above the eyes). They picked three friends to measure and then had to put them order from smallest to largest.

These pictures make me really sad! I only have 26 more days with them!

Prayer Needed

My daddy has his follow up PET Scan on Thursday! This will tell us if it is all gone! They will do the scan and read it on Thursday. PRAY! PRAY! PRAY!

Talent Show Preparation

On Sundays, I teach 11th grade girls. They have agreed to learn the HoeDown ThrowDown from the Hannah Montana Movie and teach it to me. The third grade teachers want our whole grade level to do this dance for the Talent Show on the last day of school. My sweet girls have been watching YouTube to learn the dance.
They are so cute doing it!
However, Mrs. Coon is having a little trouble! I have a lot of work to do! It is just so FAST!!!

If we can get it together, it will be so much fun!

In math this week, we are going back and working on measurement with more detail! We touched on measurement a little bit for testing, but we are going to hit it again more in depth. Here are the vocabulary words for this week!
This is the story we are reading this week. It is LONG! Please encourage your child to bring his/her reader home each night.
Also, this week they will begin learning about the Human Body in Science with Mrs. Maze. In Social Studies, we will be talking about the buying and selling of products. Last but not least, we will be working on verbs and their tenses in Language.
Happy Learning!

Back to Workshop!

The children are back on their normal schedule! The children visited their first station during Workshop today!
Will used his time wisely and read Chapters 2-4 in Sarah, Plain and Tall.
Amanda was also in comprehension today!
Hannah started answering the questions for Sarah, Plain and Tall.

Amando was in the math station. He had to figure out a price for his spelling words. Each letter of the alphabet has a money value.
Logan was working in the Social Studies station. He was reading about the invention of the telephone.
Malia was in the spelling station. She had to write each one of her spelling words 3 times each in CURSIVE!
ALL WORKSHOP ASSIGNMENTS ARE DUE ON FRIDAYS!

Easter at the Coon's

Easter at the Coon's was a day filled with family, food, and fun! Above is what Smith woke up to on Easter morning!
Above is what the Easter Bunny brought Patton on Easter morning.

After we put on our Sunday duds, we headed to church. Here is a picture of my mom and dad with all their grandchildren.

Here is my mom and dad! Doesn't my daddy look great?

Mr. David sang at church this morning. It was beautiful. Mrs. Coon was so proud of him!!

After lunch, we headed to my sister's house for our FAMILY egg hunt. While they were hiding the eggs, Nana (my mom) gave the grandchildren an Easter basket.

Yes, I would say they are quite spoiled!!!

And then the egg hunt!!!!

Smitty found the GOLDEN EGG! He got $20.00!

Still hunting!

Here they are lined up waiting to go!

I hope your family had a wonderful Easter! It is definitely a time of CELEBRATION!!!!

Happy Easter!

Today we celebrated the end of testing with a small Easter party! The boys and girls enjoyed cookies, pretzels, and Sprite. Then, they each got to decorate and dye two Easter eggs. They look great! Before calling it a day, we enjoyed "The Original Movie of "Peter Cottontail." It was a great day!

If it wasn't for my wonderful parents, I would not have been able to pull this off! Thanks for the supplies and the helping hands!

Celebration Day!

Tomorrow we will be celebrating the end of testing with an Easter party! First thing in the morning, all the third graders are going to watch "The Tale of Despareux." At 10:00, we will enjoy a special snack and dye Easter eggs. Lastly, we will spend some time playing outside in this beautiful spring weather! It will be a very fun, relaxing day!

Remember there is no school on FRIDAY! I hope you have a wonderful, long weekend and a HAPPY Easter!

Testing is Over!

We are DONE!!!! Thank you so much for all the support during the past two weeks! I know it has been long and tiring for your child, and I apologize for that! Mrs. Coon was REALLY tired, too! Now, we can relax and enjoy the rest of the school year! When they boys and girls came in on Wednesday, they found this pack of gum on their tables.
This what they found on their desks on Monday morning! They had some Smarties candy with a tag that said, "You are a Smarty!"
On TUESDAY, the boys and girls got a new pencil to use for the math section that had a tag that said, "Pick the WRITE answer."
Again, thanks to all the parents you helped make these surprises a success! They loved them!
