Easter at the Coon's

Easter at the Coon's was a day filled with family, food, and fun! Above is what Smith woke up to on Easter morning!
Above is what the Easter Bunny brought Patton on Easter morning.

After we put on our Sunday duds, we headed to church. Here is a picture of my mom and dad with all their grandchildren.

Here is my mom and dad! Doesn't my daddy look great?

The Coon Clan
Patton and Smith on Easter Morning.
Mr. David sang at church this morning. It was beautiful. Mrs. Coon was so proud of him!!

After lunch, we headed to my sister's house for our FAMILY egg hunt. While they were hiding the eggs, Nana (my mom) gave the grandchildren an Easter basket.

Yes, I would say they are quite spoiled!!!

And then the egg hunt!!!!

Smitty found the GOLDEN EGG! He got $20.00!

Still hunting!

Here they are lined up waiting to go!

Patton counting his eggs!

I hope your family had a wonderful Easter! It is definitely a time of CELEBRATION!!!!

Happy Easter!

Today we celebrated the end of testing with a small Easter party! The boys and girls enjoyed cookies, pretzels, and Sprite. Then, they each got to decorate and dye two Easter eggs. They look great! Before calling it a day, we enjoyed "The Original Movie of "Peter Cottontail." It was a great day!

If it wasn't for my wonderful parents, I would not have been able to pull this off! Thanks for the supplies and the helping hands!

Celebration Day!

Tomorrow we will be celebrating the end of testing with an Easter party! First thing in the morning, all the third graders are going to watch "The Tale of Despareux." At 10:00, we will enjoy a special snack and dye Easter eggs. Lastly, we will spend some time playing outside in this beautiful spring weather! It will be a very fun, relaxing day!

Remember there is no school on FRIDAY! I hope you have a wonderful, long weekend and a HAPPY Easter!

Testing is Over!

We are DONE!!!! Thank you so much for all the support during the past two weeks! I know it has been long and tiring for your child, and I apologize for that! Mrs. Coon was REALLY tired, too! Now, we can relax and enjoy the rest of the school year! When they boys and girls came in on Wednesday, they found this pack of gum on their tables.
This what they found on their desks on Monday morning! They had some Smarties candy with a tag that said, "You are a Smarty!"
On TUESDAY, the boys and girls got a new pencil to use for the math section that had a tag that said, "Pick the WRITE answer."
Again, thanks to all the parents you helped make these surprises a success! They loved them!

Busy Weekend

Mrs. Coon spent her weekend at the ballfields. I am sure many of you did the same because it was Opening Day for both sides of town. These picture are from the parade. Smitty is on the Kansas JayHawks. Mr. David is the head coach and sweet, Patton is the flag holder (poor thing!).
The weather was beautiful! It was a perfect weekend for BALL!!!!

Testing Resumes Next Week!

Don't forget we will be testing again next week! We will be testing on MONDAY, TUESDAY, and WEDNESDAY.
Don't forget to go to bed early Sunday night!
Three days down, and three more to go!!!!!!

Fun Friday!

This has been a very busy and stressful week for my class, so we just chilled out on Friday. First, we watched some episodes from a "Wayside School" video and then a little bit of AIR BUD. After lunch, Mrs. Wheeler showed up with some entertainment for the boys and girls. Mr. Wheeler shared a cute Easter story with the class and then read some from our new favorite chapter book, Sideways Stories from Wayside School.
We also went outside to blow some bubbles!

Mrs. Wheeler brought some sidewalk for the boys and girls to do, too.

They drew me a pretty picture on the sidewalk and signed it!
Thanks boys and girls! I love you all!

Cha-Cha!

To celebrate the end of testing for the week, all the third grade classes went outside for a stress reliever! Mrs. Sikes brought out her jam box and we all did the "Cha-Cha." This is the "How low can you go?" part. This was their favorite part!
I am glad I was the one taking pictures!

This was the "stomping your feet" part!
Here is Emma doing the cha-cha!
They had so much fun, and so did we!

Testing Treats:

For motivation on testing days, the children have walked into the classroom with a special treat waiting for them at their tables. On Thursday, the boys and girls received a bottle of bubbles with a label that said, "You are BUBBLING with Knowledge."
On Tuesday, the children had a push pop with a tag that said, "Push yourself to do your best!"

The best part of the push pop treat was that I let them enjoy them after testing. They were so excited!

On Monday, the children had a highlighter waiting on them. It's tag said, "You are the HIGHLIGHT of my day!"
They cannot wait to see what they will get each morning next week! Thanks to all the parents who helped me pull this off! You guys ROCK!!!!!
