Owl Pellets
The boys and girls spent the afternoon examining owl pellets. YUCK for some and WOW for others!
You would be amaze at what they found! They found arm bones, scapulas, skulls, etc.
Some of them were not too sure about this assignment!
However, others loved every moment of it!!
Look at these faces!
Term of the day was REGURGITATE.
Ask your child if he/she found parts of a mole, shrew, rodent, etc?

Missing You
I have been in the school the past two days, but out of the classroom. I am on the DIBELS team, so I have been busy reading with kindergarten-second grade. Mrs. Debbie Landers has been taking good care of my sweet kiddos. I stop by several times a day to say hello and get some hugs!!! I miss them all!

Today was a big day in third grade. The students got to visit the bank to cash their checks from last Friday.
After they cashed their checks, the students visited the store and paid our cashier for their items!
Ask your child if he/she was a saver or spender this morning.

Human Body Unit
We began our science unit, Human Body, with a little jump roping! The whole third grade went outside to observe each other jump rope. As each child jump roped, the other children jotted down all the body parts they observed moving. For example, hands, shoulders, knees, wrists, etc.
It was hot, but that did not stop them from doing a fabulous job!!!

Classroom Economy
Throughout the week the children earned credits ($.25) for following our classroom rules and procedures.
Friday we added up our tally marks to see how much money we earned for the week.
Then, we had a mini lesson on check writing.
The boys and girls loved writing a check made out to them.
They will take these checks to the Third Grade Bank on Monday to get them cashed.
After they cash their checks, they will take their first trip to the Third Grade Store.
Don't forget to ask your child about it tomorrow.

Decorating our writing journals
We spent Friday afternoon decorating our writing journals with personal items that represent us.
The children brought in pictures, stickers, paper, ribbons, etc. From home to use on their composition notebooks.
The students worked really hard on these notebooks.
I enjoyed looking at what the students brought from home.
Be looking for the finished projects soon!
