Please Pray for my daddy!

Just wanted to ask for prayers as my daddy gets a port inserted this week! They have found some more cancer and he will be starting a whole new round of treatment, chemo and radiation! It is going to be a tough road to travel, but he is a fighter! Please pray for healing, patience, and strength. Thanks!!!

My New Year's Resolution

David and I made two New Year's Resolutions this year. We have completed one, a TRAIL RUN! On Saturday, we head to Huntsville to participate in a 14 mile trail run! We now know why it was call "The Madness!" It is totally different than running on asphalt. Oh my at the elevation and the mud! I fell 5 times and almost lost my shoe in the mud twice!!
We completed the 14 mile adventure in 3 hours and 11 minutes. Our goal was 3 hours, but the last mile took us 27 minutes to complete! That part of the trail is named "Death Trail!" Now we know why. We couldn't run one step of it! I have never seen anything like it!

Perfect name for this RACE!!!

David's legs after the race.

My legs afterwards. I even had mud in my hair. It took me an hour to clean out my toenails and fingernails!

This is what we climbed up to get to the finish line!

On the way home in the car, I looked down at my leg and this is what I saw. We had to sit on towels in the car!

Before leaving, I tried to rinse off some of the mud in this creek! Boy, it was cold!!!
We can check that off our list!!! It was so much fun, and I can definitely see us doing it again. Now, we have to work on our next resolution, to become more flexible (Yoga and Pilates)!

GAME DAY

On Thursday the boys and girls spent the afternoon playing all kinds of games. They had 20 minutes in each third grade classroom to participate in some fun games.
They loved it because they got to mingle with students from other classrooms.

They played Guess Who, Trouble, Sorry, Battleship, Connect 4, Boggle, Scabble, Chess, Geo Boards, Computer Games, Card Games, and much more! They had a blast!!!

A Break from Testing

In between testing, we like to create a stress free and relaxing environment. Here we are doing a fun jellybean activity. We have spent the week taking walks around the school, watching movies, doing fun brain teasers, playing games, and reading.

Their favorite part of this activity was eating the jellybeans!!! Shhh.....mine too!

My Little Poet

Last Thursday, I left school for an hour to go watch Smith in his 2nd grade play at Ben Davis. It was a Shel Silverstein play. The children acted out several of his hilarious poems. This Smith reciting his poem, "The Homework Machine" as Delroy hold the homework machine. Our talented daddy made the Homework Machine!
The poem "If We Were A Rockin Roll Band" won the show!

The principal read The Giving Tree as the children acted it out! It was priceless!

We were so proud of Smith. He was loud, clear, and enthusiastic!

Way to Mrs. Wiley and Mrs. Ohara! You guys put on a great SHOW!!! We loved it!!

Testing is HERE!!

Last Tuesday and Wednesday, my class completed the ARMT. They did fabulous! I am so proud of their hard work! Thanks to the parents who provided these "Test Goodies." When the boys and girls walked in the classroom Wednesday morning they found this at their seats.
On Tuesday morning, the boys and girls found this cute happy on their desks.

The SAT is Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday! Get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast.

Opening Day for Baseball: March 20, 2010

Last Saturday, we spent our day at the ballpark! Baseball is back in full swing for Smith and Mr. David. Our team walking through the parade. Coach Coon and Coach Burgreen look thrilled to be out there. Don't they?
This year Smith is on the Phillies!

Patton and Callie went to the parade for the CANDY!!! They both got a bag full!

There is my brother, Shawn, and my nephew, Sam. They are on the Cubs.

The whole cast did wonderful!

Read Across America

Last Friday, Brylee's grandmother came and read to the class in celebration of Dr. Seuss' Birthday! It worked out great because it was Brylee's birthday, too!

Our Furry Little Friends

Last weekend, Patton came running to the door with a baby squirrel in his hands. He said that it was hanging out under the trampoline, so he put his hands out. Amazingly, the squirrel ran straight into his hands.
After about 20 minutes, another one came and joined us!
We got them some water in a bowl and feed them some milk through a medicine dropper.

We named the first squirrel Nike and the second one Under Armor!
Nike sat in Patton's lap and ate some bread.
Patton went inside to get his Animal Encyclopedia to read about squirrels. While he was reading, Nike jumped right up there with him! PRECIOUS!!

We could not believe this! They were not scared of us at all. We tried to get them to go back to their mommy, but they would follow us everywhere. Finally, we just had to say good-bye and go inside. It was sad not only for the boys, but for Nike and Under Armor, too!

The Third Grade Gang

We were worse than the kids. We couldn't wait to get out there in it!

MORE SNOW!

I am ready for Spring, but there is nothing prettier than seeing this outside our classroom window. It was so PEACEFUL!

Finally, we could not stand it anymore! We bundled up and headed outside.
Due to frozen fingers, we only lasted about 5 minutes.

brrrr.............
